Michael Feingold, the longtime Village Voice critic and beloved member of the theater community, died on Nov. 21, 2022, at age 77.
A two-time finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in criticism and a rare two-time winner of the George Jean Nathan Award for dramatic criticism, Feingold also worked as a dramaturg, playwright, and translator (his Brecht-Weill translations are widely performed). For more than 30 years, he served as a judge for the Obie Awards; in 2020, the Obies acknowledged him with a special citation and created an award in his name.
New York Stage Review was honored to have Michael join us as a contributor in 2020. His three dozen wide-ranging columns remain fascinating, vibrant, perceptive, and timely.
